Pictures
Shibuya (Tokyo)
Uniformity in Japan Looking up; advertising is everywhere and everything in Japan.
The Japanese are always on their phones and pay little attention to anything outside their screens.Flowering – I just like how hes standing, also this was shot at the same place as the photo above.
Side – It’s always a journey to find fresh food in Japan, and small stalls like here are always tucked away from the main streets sadly.
A boy and his dog – A statue of the famous Hachiko, a dog who is still waiting for his master to this day (but in statue form)
She had this look for 5 mins @ a cat cafe
Akihabara
Akihabara – an infamous location for the otaku and technology lovers to go.
Tired – a maid cafe maid takes a break outside
Persuasion – The Japanese themed cafes will hire girls to go out and spruik to you their certain cafe style in themed attire.
Crying Wolf
Couple
Harajuku
Leading the way
Rabbit interaction at a rabbit cafe – its the new thing.
Entrance – a torii’s are traditionally used to mark the enterance to a shinto shrine. If you see one, look for the temple they are beautiful.A traditional wedding at Yoyogi park.
Tokyo Temple
Dead centre of the city – If you wander through torii’s you can find some interesting places of worship, shrines or hidden cemeteries surrounded by skyscrapers.
Stairwell – Climb and explore for some unique vantage pointsDisney – Donald Duck as a headstone, a great choice for someone to look after in the eternal.Temple Offering – Give some yen on to the table and ring the bell to make an offering.Holy ground – Japanese Shinto shrines are great and display a clean break from Tokyo’s futuristic cityscape sometimes
Play, Sleep and Work – Pretty much life in general
Okinawa
Sefa-utaki, the holy ground of the traditional Ryukyu people who were the original people of Okinawa until Japan annexed the island.Okinawa world – a theme park containing a massive salt cave, snake sake and finally traditional okinawan folk lore and culture. Rent a bike down Bise Fukugi Tree Road – An excellent escape into a beautiful scenic road and seaside escape.
Traditional home protection (shisa) – a cross between a lion and a dog to ward off evil. There are more modern interpretations and more classical interpretation like this.
Secret beach – exploring Okinawa’s more rural locales up north yields plenty of beautiful and secret hideaways. This was a hidden entryway into a small private beach.Old City Centre – before Naha was the city centre of modern Okinawa, North Okinawa housed a bustling and thriving city. But, due to the business districts moving to the southern parts of the island, Okinawa’s north city has this amazing run down and lived in feeling.Beach House off Okinawa Island Traditional Okinawan Art Grafitti Fish Market – Fish is incredibly fresh and cheap due to how close everything is in the city. Explore the fish market and while you are there try some of Okinawa’s amazing fresh salt ice cream. It’s interesting.
Sacred Forest Grove Cityscape – Okinawa’s looks like an amazing South America city at the right height vantage point. A beautiful collection of colours, sounds, and smells makes this island a uniquely isolated part of Japan.
Toyama
Snow-capped Starbucks – voted as the most scenic starbucks in the world. It’s starbucks in glass covered in snow.
Toyama Castle
Snow dog
Snow Foo
Crushed by a strong sudden snow stormSnowed in – as an australian I love how ridiculously fluffly this snow is.
Nara
A doe and kid – These deers are ridiculously used to interacting with people and are quite forceful if you feed them a few times.
Bambi – These deers I am pretty sure know they are posing.
Temple
Osaka
Refresh Coming Home – triangle park is known for skating culture but today it was more held back and relaxing.
Hang Out
Small temple – a small torii gives way to a tiny shrine in an alley. I love finding torii’s in Japan. There aren’t many homeless people in Japan, the homeless don’t hustle (at least outwardly), so I would usually give them enough for a meal when I see them.
Good night and thank you – Japanese salarymen bid farewell to another.
Jigokudani
Resting – These monkeys are completely carefree about your general presences and will gladly ignore you and your cameras. These monkeys have learnt to keep warm in the hot springs when the tempeture drops down. Ceremonial – Jigukodani which means “hells valley” is devilishly cold. I don’t actually know what this ceremony was supposed to commemorate.
Can’t Hide – You seriously cant escape these Coke MachinesBaby Back – I thought this was cute as a baby macaque monkey rides on his/her mothers back.
Tokyo in general
Hometime – one of my favourite things to do is to go through the alleyways of Tokyo, you can find some pretty unique vantage points.
New in, old out – The Japanese are extremely healthy people and are extremely respectful of each others personal spaces. There seems to be a multitude of bicycle riders everywhere and will generally swerve to avoid you.
Follow – Japan is ridiculously safe at pretty much every hour of the day. I didn’t worry about my camera, wallet or safety in general.
Night time – Japan has this amazing backdrop and culture to take photos.
